Club Night - 7th May 2026

I managed to resist the urge to reference Star Wars day. Almost...

Well another week rolls by and we will be meeting up once more for some singing and playing together. This weekend I will be the Race Director for our local Parkrun, so that is the image. I did look for songs with Run in the title, but we do not seem to have more than a couple. Perhaps we can search some out for another night.

Last week I was handed a list of great songs along with some ideas as to what we could do on other nights as well.

Some good ideas looking at theory a bit and also looking at our instruments themselves.

One thing is to encourage more floor spots by you lovely people. These can be solo or as a small group (safety in numbers!). I will put feelers out about all the ideas and see what we can work in.

So here is the song list for this week:

Song List

  • Act Naturally

  • Rhythm of the Rain

  • Only You (in D)

  • Johnny B Goode

  • Into the Sun

  • Hound Dog

  • Chattanooga Choo Choo

  • Dream a Little Dream of Me

  • With a Little Help From My Friends

  • To Make You Feel My Love

  • It Doesn't Matter Anymore

  • Just Can't Get Enough

  • Dedicated Follower of Fashion

  • Sway

  • Octopus' Garden

  • Mull of Kintyre

  • Let's Twist Again

  • Half the World Away

If we run out of songs we can always rustle up a couple more. Perhaps did into one of the books we have for something.

We do have a gig coming up so some of the songs above are from that. THey are familiar so we should be ok with them, but may take a small moment to check that the starts and endings are as we want them.

Saturday, 16th May (2:30 - 3:15)

The Mill House Care Home, Skipton

It has been great to see new people at the club and I think that we did not scare them away, so hopefully they will come back and become members of our group.

With that in mind and also to cater for our existing members who cannot remember ALL the chords..... erm... well I cannot either. What I will suggest is that we try to start the night with simpler songs. That is what is happening this week. So if you are picking a list, please thing of the other members who may appreciate some simpler songs too.

I am always thankful for your input into our evenings together. It makes it so much simpler for me too.

Looking forward to Thursday as ever.

Gordon
