Club Night - 26th March 2026

It is our last night before our Easter break. We will be meeting again on the 16th April.

As is usual at times like this we tend to have a looser night. If anyone has a floor spot they would like to share then tonight is the night!

Failing that, I will be calling on you to supply song suggestions.

No themes, just a fun strum.

That being said, we may play any songs that we have recently re-drafted as well as playing Circle Game.

We should also think about what song we want to focus more on next month. So what will it be?

If we get a few options, we will just pick one out of a hat or something.

So for Thursday night, we will see if anyone wants to do a floor spot, or perhaps lead a song. I will be up there too to support you. Perhaps there is a song that we have done recently that we messed up and could improve upon.

Leading a song does not mean that you have to be the best player or singer. Just that you can keep the song going from start to end at a steady rhythm.

As has happened before with these nights, if a song is chosen from Jim's book and no one knows it, we may need to cut it short and consider if we will do it again. There are hundreds if not thousands of songs out there. Some can be played in a nice easy key, some are pitched to suit our voices. However not all of them have both factors. So while we could play a song in an easy key, we have no chance of being able to sing it. The opposite is also true. The vocals are easy, but the chords are really tricky for most of us.

So please think about what songs we could introduce. How recognizable is it? How easy are the chords? How easy are the lyrics? Are there timing issues? Who knows, there could be a really challenging song that is so good that we may want to take the effort to learn it.

Gig Information:

Here is the date of the next gig we have agreed to. Please let the gig team know if you are available and have yet to sign up.

Saturday, 16th May (2:30 - 3:15)

The Mill House Care Home, Skipton

As you start suggesting songs, I will try to collate them into a list. I may even have a bit of time to try to learn some of them if they are new! Either way, I am hoping for a fun strumming end to lead us into the Easter break.

Looking forward to seeing you all

Gordon
