Club Night - 25th September

ree

Steeton Court was a great success, a massive congratulations to all who took part. The videos and pictures were great.

We have a few weeks before the next gig. More details about timings for our gigs will be at the end of this message.

So what will we be doing this week? Well we will be looking at songs that were being considered for the Beer Festival in October. I will also try to build a list of other fun songs for us to have a go at. There are a couple of newer songs that I would also like to look at again. I have been looking at the timings for them too.

It is vital when looking at a song, that you sing what is there and not what you think is there. Sometimes we can get a bit over enthusiastic and lose the rhythm and timing. If that happens then the song breaks down. There are a few songs where this can be a real issue, so we will see what we can do about that!

Finally, I need to mention the C-word. Now before anyone clutches their pearls, I am talking about Christmas. We have three gigs in the Christmas period. As such we need to consider what songs we are going to play. We have a sizable range of songs. Some good for the high street, and others more choral. So we will need to untangle the fairy lights and check that our baubles are not cracked. Essentially we will need to look at what songs we want to do this year and what we need to practice.

Depending on the song the rehearsals may start in October for a song or two. You have been warned! Bah! Humbug!

So we have plenty to look at. I have not given up on a theme for the future. However, I am sometimes inundated with suggestions that I just cannot keep up with. One idea I had was for jobs. So that will be the theme for the 9th October. We will still be looking at gig songs, but the main part will be on the theme of jobs. So cowboys, spacemen, whatever you can think of. IMPORTANT! If you are going to suggest a song that is not in our library, then it may not make it if no one knows it.

I look forward to seeing you all on Thursday.

Gordon
