Club Night - 18th June 2026

It is Pride Month. A time when people are encouraged to take pride in who they are. And we should also take pride in who we are! It was a fantastic time on the float and we had plenty in the crowd singing along and smiling with us.

So I thought that this week I would select some songs that perhaps reference pride in all its forms. I will be stretching fro some of those song choices though! I have also had a couple of requests for songs to look at. A new one and one we have only tried once or twice. Both are a little tricky with the timing, but we will see how we get on.

There is still some time left, so happy to try something new or just find a good song from the current library. On that note, when we are choosing songs we still need to think about how many people may know it (including me). Then have a good think about the timing of the chords or the lyrics. We have many songs where the lyrics follow a clear pattern, but then there are others that can prove tricky. Friday I'm In Love has a bridge section where the pattern of the lyrics changes and I am not sure how many in the club are really comfortable with that. In the end the music does not stop because you missed a word or two or three, we need to press on.

So when you practice, as I am sure you all do plenty of, try to focus on keeping the steady beat and sticking to the beats of the song.

However, we do sometimes try our best to simplify this to make it easier for the group. So, while it may not match the original, it is our version of it. As long as we are all together, it will sound great.

Please make sure top put your name down for the projector for the coming weeks.

Speaking of that we also need to decide on the summer break. Last year we went up to the end of July and then took the following 3-4 weeks off.

Once again a huge thank you to all who took part in the Gala last Saturday. The float looked amazing, the seating worked really well. I think you all sounded fantastic too.
