Club Night - 10th July

Well, you make a plan and then......

Hope everyone had a good time last week when we were looking at songs that featured body parts.

I never thought that my weekend would be centred around my son's appendix!

So my original plan was to have colours being the theme this week, but I have decided to delay the colours and dream weeks.

Why? Well it seemed I unleashed a monster with the new chat groups on the WhatsApp community. There are just so many so I need a moment to try to gather them and make a list based on the suggestions.

This week we will take a final look at the songs for the upcoming gig, hopefully with the song leaders taking us through them.

Songs in this order:

Eric

1. Singing the Blues

2. Jolene

3. Then I kissed her

4. I have a Dream

5. Scarborough Fair

Dave

6. Skipton Woods

7. Leaning on a lamp post (solo in the verses?)

8. Love is all around

9. Spider man

10. Happy together

Eric

11.Sway

12. Jamaica farewell

13. Me and Bobby McGee

14. Dance the night away

15. Sweet Caroline

Jackie

16. Good Byee

Beyond that it will be a bit of a lucky dip.

We may make use of Jim's Ukulele Songbook. It has over 4000 pages!

We need to think about what we are going to do with that. I am not going to add it to the online club library. I do not think it is right to just post it up there. I may create a link so that people can visit his site. It has links for donations, so people can give some money to him. With 4000 pages, it will be a mammoth amount of work.

My feeling is that if we like a song enough, then we make a club version and add that to our library.

Thursday is also the open mic night, and I will head over there. Maybe at the break and I would come back for the second half.

So this is the future club night schedule:

17th July - Colours

24th July - Dreams (recurring nightmare?!)

31st July - Summer Party (get your solos ready!)

Looking forward to seeing you all

Gordon
