Updated: Sep 26, 2023

Looking forward to seeing you all again on Thursday

Official start-time for the main session is 7:15 but please feel free to arrive early (any time from 6:30) for social chat and beginners' help.

Thank you to our Volunteers for tomorrow ... Angela(Catering) and Barry (Projector)

A quick reminder of what is in progress, and also news of booking enquiries ...

Woodlands Care Home (Skipton) 2.00 pm Monday 25th September (sign-up sheet on the admin table) - 11 people have now signed up, but there is room for more - particularly singers - if anyone else would like to come.

Threshfield Court ... This has been agreed for the afternoon of Wednesday 4th October. (Arrive by 1:30 for 2:30 start)

Sign-up sheet is on the admin table. 10 names so far ... Let's have another good turn-out and put on a great show for one of our favourite venues!

Craven Open Door (one of our designated charities) Probably 5pm on Tuesday 10th October - will be confirmed shortly. to be announced as soon as possible. Only 4 names so far, a few more would be very welcome.

PLAYLISTS FOR WOODLANDS COURT AND THRESHFIELD COURT WILL BE BASED ON THE PLAYLIST WE USED AT ILKLEY LAST FRIDAY.

Incredible Edible National Apple Day 22nd October (probably afternoon)

This enquiry is at a very early stage, and so far Richard has been dealing with the communications - More news to follow as soon as we know more.

Other things going on

From October, I will be taking a break for the first Thursday of each month. This will give me some much-needed time off and will also give the members the opportunity to run evenings without me controlling it all, and to generate new ideas for how the Club can move forward.

Drama at the Town Hall !
14 people booked via me to go to this event on Wednesday 25th October. The Town Hall have e-mailed me one ticket to cover all 14 people, but have also advised me not to print multiple copies! I will resolve this next week.

New Song

I also have one new song to introduce (with Christmas in mind) ... "Walking in the Air", done in the style of the Mona Lisa Twins. Take a look here ...

I think the Mona Lisa twins have done a great job with this upbeat ver

sion of the Aled Jones classic "Snowman" theme, and it is very uke-able. The "official" version is in Ab minor, so I have moved it up to A minor to make it more accessible to all. (songsheet attached ). I have also simplified the rhythm a bit

We will go through the Playlist for the Woodlands Care Home gig on Monday, just to refresh our memory and go over any wrinkles.

Under the Boardwalk

Black Hills of Dakota

Stand by Me (songsheet sent out 5th Sept)

Blue Moon (songsheet sent out 5th Sept)

Fields of Gold (circulated previously, but if you need a copy just ask)

To Make You Feel My Love (2023 version circulated previously, but if you need a copy just ask)

I Have a Dream (In D) (circulated previously, but if you need a copy just

ask)

Don't Worry Be Happy (2023 version- (songsheet sent out 5th Sept)

Enjoy Yourself (May 2022 version- circulated previously, but if you need a copy just ask)

Finishing With ... Carnival is Over (in D) (songsheet attached- Please do not use the Big Book version as it has errors)

Somewhere along the way we will do "Walking in the Air"

This should again leave time for requests, and to give the new "SUC Song Library" another rigorous testing.

Looking forward to seeing you all on Thursday
